Protesting the threat of war with Iran. Washington D.C., November 17
In response to revelations late Monday night in the New York Times that last Thursday, Trump had to be “dissuaded… from moving ahead with a military strike” against Iran, RefuseFascism.org is holding an emergency protest to demand, “Don’t Bomb Iran! Trump/Pence Out Now!”
“A week after being decisively defeated in the election, Trump still refuses to concede, gave his backing to violent thugs who marauded in DC this past weekend, and is actively obstructing the transition at the cost of people’s lives. Now it is revealed that he had to be talked back from bombing Iran and is still considering military aggression. This is completely illegitimate and dangerous to humanity, we demand Trump/Pence Out NOW!” says Sunsara Taylor, a co-initiator of RefuseFascism.org who will be leading today’s emergency protest.
Taylor and other organizers say their protest is carrying forward the commitment they and others made when they published a full page ad in the New York Times last Monday featuring a Pledge to the People of the World. The Pledge, signed by luminaries like Cornel West and Noam Chomsky among others, reads in part:
We do not accept: a society ruled by hate and bigotry, ignorance and brutality, demeaning and cursing other peoples and countries and threatening them with destruction
There can be: no more children torn from parents and locked in cages, no more fire and fury from the mouth of a demented bully with his finger on the nuclear trigger, no more mass COVID death from science-hating lunacy no more “law and order” of official terror by bullets, batons, and tear gas
In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America!
